Apply 2023

Trail dates: 26th July – 3rd September 2023, Wednesday – Sunday, 10 – 5. Raveningham, South Norfolk, NR14 6NU.

Deadline: 29th January 2023 – Application Form Below

This will be the 10th Sculpture Trail, our 7th on the site at Raveningham. To continue our Creative Odyssey at Rav we are looking for artists, sculptors, makers, musicians, poets, writers to create uplifting, inspiring, artworks in response to the 3 acres of wild gardens at Raveningham and around the Tudor Farmhouse.

The theme for this year is to Amplify the Positive as a radical act. In turbulent times and a post pandemic world it can feel like whichever way we turn there are challenges. As artists, one of our skills is to notice the detail in the world around us, we are naturally finely tuned to notice. Sometimes it can feel that we notice this almost too acutely. I have been thinking a lot about this year’s theme, where we fit, what our purpose is and what we do as artists during difficult times. I truly believe that we can effect change in the wider community through our work by inspiring, uplifting or providing a nurturing, thought provoking, space.

For the Trail 2023 I would like to invite artists to create works in response to the space and Amplify the Positive in the things that you find uplifting. It may be that you have a particular love for colour or form, you may find the minutiae of the natural world endlessly fascinating or get lost in the making process or a particular material. Whatever lifts you up, whatever act or process raises your spirits daily in the studio or out walking in nature. Artists may follow the theme or respond more generally to the natural space at Raveningham, thinking about the flora and fauna which lift our spirits. Artworks could be in the form of sculpture, site specific works, stories, sound, light, film and more for the meadows, pond, gardens, and woodland at Raveningham. Artists working in any medium are welcome and there is the opportunity to work to a large scale in some of the open meadows and wooded areas.

The Raveningham Sculpture Trail is produced by Creative Odyssey CIC who are committed to encouraging public interaction with contemporary art in a rural setting as well as creating space and opportunity for artists to experiment, show and sell their work to a diverse audience. There will be 4 awards – People’s Choice 1st £250, 2nd £200, 3rd £150 and Curator’s Choice £250

By letting our imaginations and aspirations soar we will create a sculpture trail that inspires visitors and creates the opportunity for artists to experiment and create. Bringing together and celebrating our creative community and the power of the arts during tough times.
